United States Military Uniforms of World War II needs your help. We are reaching out to those who are willing to contribute photographs of artifacts, copies of period photos, or copies of primary source material. With the help of a community of like‐minded people willing to contribute to the success of this website, we can present an experience that is unmatched anywhere ‐ and all free of charge. Photographs Needed of Clothing & Individual Equipment


Large size, high‐resolution images of the following artifacts are needed. Objects need to be front lit and posed in a presentable position. Background is not important as it will be removed from the image before publishing. Typically, a couple shots of the whole subject will be needed along with close‐ups of any critical details. More specific instructions will be given upon contacting us.

Army

Photos needed to complete a 1942‐43 Jungle uniform profile:

Band, Helmet, Camouflage; Stock No. 74‐B‐56‐75.

Gloves, Mosquito; Specifications PQD 228, or 228A; Stock No. 73‐G‐35000.

Liner, Helmet, M‐1, Jungle Troop; Stock No. 74‐L-72‐25.

Photos needed to complete a 1942-44 paratrooper field uniform profile:

Gloves, Horsehide, Riding, Unlined; Specifications CQD 100, or 100A; Stock No. 73‐G‐22010 to 22050.

Helmet, Steel, M‐1C; Stock No. 74‐H‐125.

Liner, Helmet, M‐1, Parachutist; Stock No. 73‐L‐73.

Army Air Force

Photos needed to complete an AAF winter flying uniform profile:

Shoes, Flying, Winter, Type A‐6; Specification No. 94‐3081.

Marine Corps

Photos needed to complete several USMC uniform profiles:

Undershirt, White, Cotton; This is a lightweight, short‐sleeve, cotton undershirt used before the introduction of the green type in 1944.

Navy

Photos needed to complete a USN winter uniform profile:

Jacket, Jungle Cloth (Type I with zipper front, or Type II with buckle front); This is a waist-length, medium weight winter jacket made in blue jungle cloth that was made before the introduction of the N‐1 green type in 1943.

Any showing the numerous types of US Army wet weather uniforms in use during WW2. This includes specifications PQD 51, 53, 151, 151A, 352, 288A and 288B

Army Air Force

Any showing use of the B‐15 & A‐11 intermediate cold weather uniform.

Marine Corps

Any showing use of the USMC combat utility uniform, type commonly known as P‐44.

Any Showing use of the USMC camouflage combat uniform, type commonly known as P‐44.

Navy

Any showing use of the US Navy N‐2 wet weather uniform.

Any showing use of the US Navy N‐3 utility uniform.
